If you watched the Shins’ “Simple Song” video we posted earlier this week, you might have spotted guitarist Jessica Dobson alongside James Mercer. In addition to currently playing in the Shins (and with Beck in the past), Dobson has undertaken a number of other musical endeavors. Personally, I was able to watch her open for Pickwick at Neptune Theater in Seattle and again with Bryan John Appleby at Portland’s Doug Fir in January. Dobson currently creates under the moniker Deep Sea Diver with a few bandmates. Sound on the Sound captured a beautiful basement rehearsal session with Deep Sea Diver. Watch them perform “NWO” and “You Go Running” below. They are an inspiration to people taking music classes.
