You might’ve noticed that Tame Impala’s Lonerism album got quite a bit of love earlier this week. And it’s a damn fine album, easily one of the year’s best. Yet Toronto’s Metz also put out an excellent album, making this week a musical treat. Essentially, the trio called Metz forges together this post-punk energy that pulls from Thee Oh Sees’ intensity and rhythm, the Japanroids’ pop and melodic skill and their own deal. Or perhaps this quote by Metz themselves provides a better idea; “we want the bass to sound like a dinosaur tearing apart a deer”. Have a listen below.
