Last night, I had the opportunity to watch founding Velvet Underground member John Cale perform his new solo material in San Francisco. Photos and review of that performance will be up shortly. But it seemed as good of excuse as any to legitimize Velvet Underground for the Happy Monday spot. This jam, “What Goes On”, is on their second LP. Additionally, their classic album with Nico was recently rereleased for the 45th anniversary. Note: John Cale wasn’t actually on this song, as he left Velvet Underground following 1968’s White Light/White Heat. This is just a great Monday, wake-up VU track.
