Happy Monday: Bauhaus & MGMT "All We Ever Wanted Was Everything"

Happy Monday! My week ended with a 7 hour stint with Delta Airlines, including several lovely hours in the Salt Lake City airport. Fortunately, that stint was followed with an introduction to 80’s English band Bauhaus. They’re oft-classified as fore-fathers of Goth, which is identifiable. Fans of My Bloody Valentine might feel the foundations of their groove in Bauhaus. But I was also attracted to Bauhaus for their krautrock styled sonic experimentation, droning grooves, meandering song structure and spacey developments. Given their German name–it’s named after a German movement–I thought they actually were a German kraut band from the 60’s. Anyhow, this track “All We Ever Wanted Was Everything” will make the start of your week much better, promise. Plus, listen to MGMT’s cover of this song. if Andrew and Ben covered it, you know there’s some gold in the tune. Do yourself a favor and check out more Bauhaus aside from this track! They’ve got sprawling variety.

  1. Bauhaus is awesome! This is why apesontape is so sweet, bringing up good old stuff, linking it up to good new stuff, thereby turning us all on to quality music that we may not have discovered otherwise. Well done.
