Portland’s Unknown Mortal Orchestra, the brainchild of Ruban Nielson, will release their third album this Spring. Multi-Love will follow up 2013’s II, arriving on May 26 via Jagjaguwar. The album’s title track is now streaming too. Nielson has cleaned up the aesthetic, but it’s an excellent track signaling Multi-Love should be on your radar. Stream Unknown Mortal Orchesta “Multi-Love” and check out upcoming tour dates below. Ruban Nielson had the following to say on the new LP:
It felt good to be rebelling against the typical view of what an artist is today, a curator. It’s more about being someone who makes things happen in concrete ways. Building old synthesizers and bringing them back to life, creating sounds that aren’t quite like anyone else’s. I think that’s much more subversive.
