I can’t tell you much about White Fence’s performance at the Fillmore in San Francisco last friday night. Nor Nick Waterhouse much either. For, while being one of the most historically rich and most awesome venues to see a show at, they sure don’t make it easy for a guy to get photos at the Fillmore. Anyhow, that was alleviated by the show provided by Friday’s main gig: Ty Segall.

Ty had an incredibly busy 2012, releasing three albums while logging in hours on the road. I, personally, was drawn into the utter shreddery he’s been crafting via his San Francisco pals, Thee Oh Sees. Their raucous, maniac, riot-vibe, good time shows were a great primer for Ty’s set. I can see how their friendship blossomed. Within three or four songs, Ty & Co’s relentless intensity, quick transitions and groove manufacturing yielded plenty of stage diving, crowd surfers and a pair of girls having such a time on-stage that Ty stopped to make note of the “love connection”. This was easily the most lively show I’ve seen at Fillmore, touché to Mr. Segall for giving that to us. He’s easily one of the best shredders on the west coast.

I recommend checking out his 2012 album Goodbye Bread, particularly tracks “You Make The Sun Fry”, “My Head Explodes” and “Where Your Mind Goes”.
