Bay Area tune bird Mikal Cronin has a new album titled MCII comin out 5/7 on Merge. I caught Mikal opening for Thee Oh Sees at SXSW, which makes sense considering the narrowing degrees of separation between the former, Ty Segall and the latter. Mikal dropped a new track titled “Weight” today. Given Mikal’s past work and association with said SF scene, you might expect “Weight” to contain a good deal of fuzz. But it’s a pretty straightfordward, melodically beautiful, gem of a jam. Highly recommend a listen.
