MGMT have remained pretty quiet since they diverged from their widely adored 2008 Oracular Spectacular album with 2010’s Congratulations. They covered Pink Floyd on Fallon, covered Rolling Stones live and played some unique shows at the Guggenheim. But in a new interview with Rolling Stone (magazine), they’ve announce their third full-length album will be out this summer. The duo stuck to their own guns for this record, as opposed to the wider  Congratulations staff. And apparently, while they holed up in a cabin near Buffalo, NY, they leaned towards a more house-influenced sound via Aphex Twins. Dave Fridmann (Flaming Lips, Tame Impala) produced the album. No official single yet, but MGMT covers sixties cut “Introspection” by Faine Jane. Stay tuned for more updates.
