As Seattle’s La Luz march towards the release of their second full-length album Weirdo Shrine, they’ve shared a new track off the album. La Luz “Don’t Wanna Be Anywhere” highlights the tight surf, doo-wop the band has honed in on. After the addition of new keys and bass players while logging miles on the road, La Luz has certainly refined their game. Though “Don’t Wanna Be Anywhere” is sonically fairly bright, the song revolves around the death of a friend and the aftermath.
La Luz’ Weirdo Shrine is out August 7 via Hardly Art. Weirdo Shrine was produced by Ty Segall–their tour mate–and was apparently recorded by Ty in his friend’s surf shack as La Luz crashed at his house. Stream La Luz “Don’t Wanna Be Anywhere” below and pre-order Weirdo Shrine here.
