Seattle’s Hot Bodies in Motion brought their brief West Coast tour through San Francisco to the Independent Saturday night. Hot Bodies played Reno on Friday and will play Los Angeles Monday night and San Diego Tuesday night. For those unfamiliar with the Seattle band, they vibe in the vein of soul-revival that their fellow 206’ers Allen Stone and Pickwick have brought light to over the past few years. However, Hot Bodies offer a little more gravel in the guts and a larger emphasis on classic rock riffage with licks that force guitarist Scott Johnson into some of the sassiest facial expressions I’ve seen on stage. Seriously, Hot Bodies offer perhaps the best on-stage facial expressions I’ve seen. They’re working on a new EP which they have on tour and plan to release very soon.
