Fauna Shade "No Nostalgia"

Seattle’s northernly neighbor Everett doesn’t get a whole lot of love outside the state of Washington. Fortunately, a handful of bands and individuals are making inroads. Last year, the inaugural Fisherman’s Village Festival presented a very solid initial lineup. The festival included Everett’s own Fauna Shade.

Scotty Smith original created Fauna Shade and filled out a trio with Richie Owen and Derek Johnston. They dropped their debut Baton Rouge album last May and will follow that up with the new Floral Hall EP on March 8. In anticipation of Floral Hall, Fauna Shade dropped single “No Nostalgia”. The track includes grunge elements you might expect from a WA band. Yet “No Nostalgia” features just as much garage and psyche. The three and a half minute jam progresses through a funk-laced verse, Smith’s powerful wails, a 90 second guitar solo driven interlude and a spacey outro reminiscent of early 70’s psyche.
