Provo, Utah’s Desert Noises swung through San Francisco to play a Saturday night set at, fittingly, Hotel Utah. The band is finishing up some early 2013 tour dates before an extensive spring tour (dates) below. This past fall, Desert Noises dropped their new EP I Won’t See You. Having seen the band at Treefort Festival last spring, it seemed they’ve gone with a bit more mellowed out brand of rock. Leadman Kyle Anderson noted his affinity for Neil Young and older country, and I felt a definite Dawes vibe at the show. But this isn’t to say Desert Noises isn’t upbeat, they mustered much more energy into their set than a folk-rock or alt-country set. They’ve just a got a genuine sound going for them.
