déCollage "Magnetize"

Those who joined us for our Treefort Showcase in Boise this year likely took notice to the eclectic, captivating performance from Denver’s déCollage.  The collective’s animated, sprawling, ebullient psych pop invigorated Woodland Empire into a visually entrancing dance party. So when déCollage announced they’re releasing their third full-length album Magnetize, we were all ears.

On May 27, déCollage drops the eleven track Magnetize (tracklist below) via Misra Records. The band’s Reed Fuchs shared that Magnetize features contributions from 25 different musicians, including fellow Treefort Showcase alums Rose Quartz. This morning, we excited to premiere the title track, “Magnetize”. déCollage “Magnetize” follows previously released album tracks “Better Things Pt. 2” and “Crystal Choir”, both of which you can stream below. “Magnetize” finds déCollage’s psychedelia infused with silky, nocturnal R&B (including saxophone), airy falsetto vocals, and a deep, driving bass. Reed Fuchs shared the following regarding “Magnetize”:

We wrote the title track off the record during the last night of the UMS last year, The Underground Music Showcase is sometimes referred to as Denver’s mini SXSW. We threw a UMS afterparty at Moon Magnet Studios (like the UMS needs an afterparty) and invited all our friends. Word got out that we were planning on recording a song, and at one point there was 15 musicians in the studio, some brought instruments! We recorded from 3am to noon the next day. Sean Culliton from Retrofette/Rose Quartz brought his saxophone and tracked it right before jumping on a plane. Mitchell Pond (Man Mantis) and Derrick Bozich (Sound of Ceres & Channel Strange) helped co-produce the song with me. Megan Crooks, Cody Coffey (Wild High), and Anna Smith from Ancient Elk sang and wrote the lyrics. Turner Jackson introduced the song. Ben Weirich (The Other Black/ Retrofette) played synth bass. I produced the song in the way that a movie producer oversees and produces a movie, in addition to programming the drums, and recording/mixing all the instruments.
