Social Work "Funny Dancers"

Bay Area-based journalist Will Butlernot to be confused with the Arcade Fire’s own Will Butler–flipped the script today by releasing his own new track as Social Work. The tight, upbeat, four minute “Funny Dancers” features the vocal work of Madeline Kenney and the adept instrumentation of Oakland’s Brass Magic. Patrick Brown of Different Fur Studios also stepped in to help with some production duties on “Funny Dancers”. Stream Social Work’s debut track and check out a snippet from the group regarding the track below.

Like the remnants of a satin-rouge carpet, shredded by a T. Rex and foraged for the Pterodactyl’s nest, “Funny Dancers” seems old but can really cut a rug. Assembled posthumorously from red construction paper and copper wire, “Funny Dancers” hangs together, on its best days, like a forgotten electrical fire. “Funny Dancers” was, in fact, first spotted on the bluff; jigging between rocks at Albany Bulb; only to slip, melancholic, into the sea. When it washed up again, long-toothed and full-bodied as a Hans Christian Andersen hallucination, the locals went to work. The thing was declawed; the weird bits salvaged and rendered for head cheese, until all that remained was a wet pair of chucks — relatively unspoiled and dangling, contemplative, from a strawberry-hair door hinge on the outskirts of Ocean View.
