Robin Pecknold "Swimming"

Fleet Foxes have largely been quiet since touring wrapped up for their 2011 album Helplessness Blues. The band members have entertained other projects and Robin Pecknold went back to school at Columbia while playing some one offs (including with Joanna Newsom). Earlier this month, Fleet Foxes’ Christian Wargo apparently stated the band was getting back together.

While we wait for any official word on that, Robin Pecknold has shared a new track called “Swimming”. The four minute track is different than anything we’ve heard from his public canon so far. Pecknold’s “Swimming” features an ambient electric guitar creating swirling, grandiose, melodic tones as Neal Morgan handles minimal snare, kick and cymbal percussion. For those who might have burnt out on the folk revival, this will be a refreshing listen from Pecknold. Perhaps Robin’s been listening to Godspeed, Explosions and My Bloody Valentine.

Stream Robin Pecknold “Swimming” below and we’ll share any word on Fleet Foxes actually announcing new music.
