New York born folk musician Richie Havens passed away earlier today. Havens, 72, suffered a heart attack at his home. You might know him from one of his 25 albums, his Woodstock performance or as one of the musicians my dad talks about the most. But on the real, check out the clip of “Freedom” below. Havens’ three hour Woodstock performance is epic even by Phish, My Morning Jacket or Dave Matthews’ set length standards. Moreover, Havens diligence to release over two dozen albums is quite incredible. Try naming five bands that have released even a dozen albums over the past two decades… RIP Richie Havens.
