By: Rachel Milani Astronauts etc's recent U.S. tour culminates in a show back on home turf when they play at Rickshaw Stop on Wednesday, April 13th. The Oakland based band has been touring for the last several months to promote the release of their first full length album Mind Out Wandering.
What makes this show extra exciting is the presence of supporting act Madeline Kenney. Fans will get double the pleasure when she takes the stage as front woman for a backing band that consists -- secretly or not-so-secretly, depending where you live--of Astronauts etc members.
Madeline first caught our attention last year when she released a collaborative single with journalist turned musician Will Butler. Meanwhile, her most recent single as a solo musician “Tricky Way” was released early this year with a music video (above) that soon followed. It’s a sentimental, dreamy ode to overcoming insecurities. It is also her first official release with new band members Derek Barber, Scott Brown, and Aaron Gold. With buzz from the new music gaining behind her, she is gearing up to release an EP and, soon after, a full-length.
Funky soul musician Harriet Brown, who has been touring with Astronauts, etc, will be the opening act for the night.
