diiv summer tour
Brooklyn-based DIIV’s new record Oshin is about as summery of a record as a guy could ask for. Sort of a hazier Real Estate mixed with more upfront surf riffs like Surfer Blood, plus their own vibes. You should give it whirl for your next road trip, late night bike ride or beach/lake sess. Guess you might expect that from a group that named themselves and their album after water related monikers (heard they’re all water signs as well…). Plus they’ve got a song called “Air Conditioning”. Anyhow, they’ve announced a new tour this summer, including West Coast dates witch Bleached, plus other dates with Wild Nothing, Grimes, Best Coast and Cloud NothingsSidenote: When watching DIIV’s Pitchfork +1 session, I kept thinking how much of a Cobain vibe Zachary Cole Smith seemed to be shooting for. Learned he named the band after Nirvana’s “Dive” track.

    1. You are totally correct, Austin. He mentions them more often, re the name. The Cobain look alike just struck me as strong. And he also said “the name is nothing”
